Being raised in the film industry and surrounded by film makers primed Warren MacCarthy for a life in movies. He’s a hybrid film maker: His years as a commercial film editor gives him a distinct advantage as director and cinematographer. Warren is passionate about building narratives that touch audiences on a deep emotive level and inspire positive change He’s conducted countless interviews over the years with celebrities like Annie Lenox, Dylan Lewis and Francois Pienaar, and his direction style encourages the best out of people naturally, whether that be a performance or an interview. He’s created impactful stories for brands, NPO’s and agencies such as CNN, Great Big Story, Springer Nature, OML and Accenture Song.
Warren is famous for his calm, friendly demeanor on and off set. This makes him a favorite amongst client and crew alike.
Over the years, Warren has developed an intimate knowledge of lighting and camera systems. He’s operated and lit countless scenarios for corporate and documentary work. This means he can converse with crew on the various intricacies and get the better result.
Many directors can edit, but its rare to have a director with 18 years of professional film editing experience behind them. Warren trained under Gordon Midgley and Graham Smith, and edited for elite commercial directors over an 8 year period before getting into broadcast and corporate work. His editing background streamlines the narrative process because he sees the story structure even before he shoots.
